James Firth has been the Foundation Environmental Impact Coordinator at University College School since 2020. He has overseen the development of the long term Sustainability Strategy and led the Student Environmental Group ‘UCS Green Impact.’ In 2021 he put in place the framework that resulted in UCS becoming the first UK school to achieve Gold UN recognition in every step of the UN Carbon Neutral Now Initiative – Measure, Reduce and Contribute. This confirmed that UCS took the necessary steps to become carbon neutral by measuring, reducing and offsetting current unavoidable emissions arising from key aspects of life in the Senior School, Junior Branch and Pre-Prep.
James is also a passionate Geography teacher in the Senior School and has been at UCS for 7 years, previously teaching at Rugby School.
